Congrats Aaliyah!

Yesterday, one of our Pre-teens, Aaliyah, tested for her yellow belt. Aaliyah has been doing MMA at our school for a little over two months. Within the two months she has trained with us, she was able to learn and perfect her yellow belt skills. Her yellow belt was well deserved. For more information about our Pre Teens class, give us a call 805-914-4129 or e-mail is at cherry@camarillomma.com.

Sifu Cherry’s Thought’s For This Weekend’s UFC Fight

UFC 148.  Every time there’s a big fight over the weekend, with us owning a mixed martial arts school, many people ask, “Who are you going for?” I usually tell them, it’s anyone’s match. I’ll give you my opinion about who I like, but it can be anyone’s win.

And this is why. For those that study the sport, it can be anyone’s win.  The most skilled and technical fighters win, sometimes they don’t.  Then sometimes the most unskilled fighters win. With MMA it is a constant chess match.  Whoever makes the smartest move or moves, win.

But because this is probably one of the biggest fights in UFC history, I thought I’d give my two cents on this weekend’s line up.

Le vs. Cote

I used to be a huge Cung Le fan.  He is very traditional, very skilled.  However, I think Cung Le isn’t as strong as he was before.  I think he used to be in tip-top shape, but now he could use some improvement. Cote has done well in his last couple of fights. Very skilled as well. Overall I think this will be a great fight. My decision for this fight: Cote.

Griffin vs. Ortiz

Didn’t Tito retire like 10 fights ago?  Seriously.  I think Tito used to be a great fighter, but I think he’s fighting just so he can get paid. Griffin is pretty good. His last couple of fights was decent.  However, I think Ortiz will get knocked out. Homeboy is too old to be fighting in the Octagon. My decision for this fight: Griffin

Silva vs. Sonnen II

This is anyone’s match. Both fighters are excellent fighters. However sometimes I think round 2s are just for politics, to get the crowd hyped, etc. But on a skill level, my decision for this fight: Silva.

So as for this weekend…who are you rooting for?
